Orval Alwyn Rushing

Orval Alwyn Rushing, 89, of Steeleville, died at 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2000 in the Sparta Community Hospital.
Mr. Rushing was born August 5, 1910 in Cutler, the son of Dwight and Iva Ellen (Ryan) Rushing. He married Leona Evelyn Nelson on January 22, 1959 in Bremen.
He was a retired blasting engineer for Southewestern Coal Co.s Streamline Mine in Percy. He was a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Rushing of Steeleville; four sons, Larry Rushing, Ira D. Rushing and Marion Rushing, all of Pinckneyville and Maurice Rushing of Steeleville; a daughter, Phyllis Scherle of Martinsville, Ind.; a step daughter, Evelyn Bradley of Steeleville; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren; 8 step great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Rushing of Steeleville and Robert Rushing of Pinckneyville; and one sister, Iola Kuhnert of Pinckneyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Perry Rushing, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2000 at the Steeleville Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard A. Newcom officiating.  Visitation was Sunday evening at Wilsons Funeral Home in Steeleville. Interment was in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
